Our Social Europe: Portal Content

We are developing a citizen portal to assist people to participate in and find out about local decisions. Our Social Europe bus journey is intended to help local people have their say, become aware of decisions that they may feel are being made without their input and provide a space for their voice to be heard.

This is your chance to help us design the portal.

This citizen portal is designed as a tool to actively engage individuals. Please make your way through the Bus route, and on your way give us feedback by answering a few short questions. It should take no more than 15 minutes. Begin by clicking the link below:

  1. Stop 1. Ideas to improve my area

    • This stop provides a virtual space for individuals who would like to make suggestions or share their ideas on improving their area.
    • It is intended that local individuals will have the opportunity to make their suggestion to a local representative or group and get a response.
    • It is also intended that individuals will interact and that a virtual shared space will allow local suggestions be discussed with the local community.
    • This stop will also have the capacity to allow the user to search ideas or suggestions enabling them to identify if the idea was presented before and the outcome.
  2. Stop 2. My Local Groups

    • In this section there will be a list of all the groups that exist within the local community.
    • They will also include links to the websites and contact details.
    • There will also be a facility for groups to join and register for the portal.
  3. Stop 3. Set up a Group to address a New Idea

    • This stop provides a virtual space for individuals who would like to make suggestions or share their ideas on improving their area.
    • It is intended that local individuals will have the opportunity to make their suggestion to a local representative or group and get a response.
    • It is also intended that individuals will interact and that a virtual shared space will allow local suggestions be discussed with the local community.
    • This stop will also have the capacity to allow the user to search ideas or suggestions enabling them to identify if the idea was presented before and the outcome.
  4. Stop 4. Local Concerns

    • This stop would be for individual portal users who would like to report an issue/ concern that they have for their area.
    • It is intended that a filtering system will identify the individual or agency that is responsible for addressing the concern/issues.
    • We would like to include links to other sites specific to the local area.
    • Upon completion of the portal it is hoped that the individual will be able to contact the relevant individual or group.
  5. Stop 5. Public Participation Networks (PPN) – My Local Networks

    • This section will provide information on the public participation networks that exist in each local area.
    • This section will be different for each country.
    • The idea is that the individual would be able to read this section and become more familiar with the local structures.
    • It is intended that the stop will assist people in understanding who the local decision-making bodies are thus increasing their awareness of democratic and civic participatory processes within local government.
  6. Stop 6. My Local PPN Representatives

    • This stop would list all of your local PPN Representatives, what they do and how to best contact them.
  7. Stop 7. Links to other sites and forums

    • This stop would be a directory of links to numerous different sites.
  8. Stop 8. Engagement: Validate Your Ticket Here

    • The idea for this section is to provide a space where users can choose to become more engaged, and to get actively involved in participating in a democratic way.
    • It will offer information on the training programme developed for the Our Social Europe project, for both individuals and interested groups.
    • At this stop, upon completion of the citizen portal individuals can register their name and contact details to show their interest in local actions.
    • These areas of interest may fall under the three sectors of the PPN; Community and Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environment.
    • It is intended as a way of offering the opportunity to engage meaningfully.
